What is a row?

A row is defined as a horizontal line of data in a table or matrix. It runs from left to right and is numbered or labeled in order to identify its position within the table. A row typically represents a single record or observation within the dataset, and contains a set of values or attributes that describe that observation. In a spreadsheet, a row is commonly denoted by a number (e.g. Row 1, Row 2), while in a database or programming context, it may be represented by an ID or primary key value. Rows can be sorted, filtered, or grouped based on their content, and are often used to compare or analyze data within and across datasets.
